Watering might sound like a no-brainer, but when it comes to how to grow weed, water quality and pH can make or break your grow.
Here’s the deal: cannabis roots like it slightly acidic.
- In soil: Aim for a pH between 6.0–6.5
- In coco or hydro: Dial it down to around 5.8
Use a cheap pH pen or drops to check after mixing in nutrients — they can shift your water’s pH fast.
Too high or too low? Your marijuana plant won’t be able to absorb what it needs, even if you’re feeding it like a champ. That’s called nutrient lockout — and it sucks.
Fix it with a little pH Up or Down, and boom — you’re back in business.
Now, watering schedule:
- Soak it till water runs out the bottom, then let the top inch dry out before watering again.
- Too soon = overwatering (droopy leaves, root rot).
- Too late = crispy, thirsty plants.
Young cannabis might need water every 2–3 days. Big blooming weed plants? Maybe daily. Let your plant and soil be your guide.
Bonus weed growing tip: room-temp water is best. Avoid ice-cold, hot, or softened water (those sneaky salts = trouble).
Want to grow good weed? Keep that pH on point and your roots happy. Healthy roots = happy buds.
